About this wine.
Our Szekszárd Red is a Szekszárd Kékfrankos 2022, an elegant and bold red sourced from Gergő Káldi's tiny boutique winery in southern Hungary. This is his Le Kek Superior: 100% Kékfrankos, Hungary's signature red, hand-picked from south-east-facing slopes and aged mostly in French oak. Aromatic and fruity, very complex, with playful vanilla and woody notes.
Why We Selected This Region
Szekszárd, in southern Hungary, is one of the country's great red-wine regions, famous for Kékfrankos, Kadarka and its own take on Bull's Blood. Summers that can hit 40°C and loess soils give reds with ripe fruit and spice. For Chateau Noble, it's where Hungarian red comes into its own.
Chateau Noble Selection & Provenance
Produced by Káldi Borászat in Szekszárd, Hungary, this wine forms part of the Chateau Noble collection, showcasing wines from some of the world's most respected wine-growing regions.
Gergő Káldi has run his small winery in Szekszárd since 2020. He farms around two hectares of his own vines on loess and clay, picks everything by hand and ages his wines partly in barrel. His Le Kek Superior 2022 won gold at the 2026 Blaufränkisch International Competition.
